History Picnic Next Week!

On behalf of the Department of History, I’m writing to invite you to the rescheduled History Fall Picnic, Wednesday, October 5, from 3:30 to 6pm, in the Bornhuetter Pavilion! Colleagues, friends, history majors & minors, majors with a home department in History, and students interested in History are all very welcome.

We’ll start setting up at 3:30, but should have some food before long after. Feel free to stop in at the beginning or the end, for a half hour or the whole thing.

We’ll let you bring along your roommate if they can correctly answer any one of the following questions:

1) How long did the Thirty Years War last?
2) What was one of the identifying features of Garibaldi’s red shirts?
3) In what month did the October Revolution of 1917 take place?
4) When did the sixties end?

We’ll supply some burgers and veggie burgers, salad and drinks. Your favorite professors will be on hand – together with the rest of us. There will be croquet – and the distant possibility that students might redeem themselves from last year. Kids are very much welcome.

Right now the weather looks promising. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.

We hope to see you all there! gks
