We are pleased to announce the first panel of distinguished I.S. presentations. This Thursday, April 11th, Cafe Bob welcomes three graduating historians to present their research. The theme is “Politicizing Space, Race, and Gender” and the talks will all address, from different thematic and methodological angles, U.S. history since the 1960s. Kelsey Smith will reinterpret the “Woman Question” in SNCC theory and activism, Abby Rider will examine education policy and desegregation in Akron, and Dan Grantham will explore the theory of “global cities” in relation to the history of non-elite political activity in New York. This event will highlight three Independent Studies that challenge the way we think about the politics of space, race, and gender: it promises to be a lively conversation.
Please join us in celebrating these student-scholars and engaging their work.
