WOOSTER IN ISRAEL AND PALESTINE SPRING 2012
HIST 228: Israel/Palestine – Histories in Conflict (taught by Joan Friedman) now includes an additional .25 credit component, a 12-day study trip to Israel and Palestine during spring break. The trip has been designed for us by the Interreligious Coordinating Committee in Israel with the participation of the International Center of Bethlehem. Beginning in Jaffa, we will travel to the Galilee, through the Golan Heights and the West Bank, to Jerusalem and its environs, including Bethlehem.
The first half of the semester will be a survey of the history of the conflict. The sites we visit, the people we meet, and the outside experts from whom we will learn will build upon that knowledge, enabling us to engage with the contemporary situation in depth when we return to Wooster for the second half of the semester.
