The Department of History is participating in a wide-ranging film and discussion series on America’s Civil Rights struggles. Across the spring semester, four films will be shown with discussions led by faculty in History, Africana Studies, and Political Science. The first event is this Wednesday night, with a showing of the film Slavery By Another Name on the re-enslavement of Black Americans after the Civil War. Professor Boubacar N’Diaye will present comments and lead discussion. The event begins at 6:30pm in Lean Lecture Room.

All events will take place in the Lean Lecture Room of Wishart Hall. These events are free and open to the public.
This grant was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and created by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History in partnership with the NEH as a part of the larger Bridging Cultures programming initiative of the NEH. The College of Wooster Libraries have partnered with the Center for Diversity and Global Engagement, the Africana Studies Department, and the History Department, and the Dean for Curriculum and Academic Engagement, in addition to being awarded funds from the Cultural Events Committee to help with programming for the event. The College has extended the Wooster Forum 2013 on Facing Race into the Spring Semester 2014 to include this valuable programming as well.
