Hello History students!
Please join the History Department and Cafe Bob this Thursday, March 1st at 11:00-11:50am in Kauke Tower for two senior I.S. presentations. We will hear from Bonnie Berg and Leann Do who are presenting their I.S.’s at the Phi Alpha Theta Ohio Regional Conference at Ashland University.
Bonnie Berg
Timekeepers of Progress: Buffalo and the 1901 Pan-American Exposition
Bonnie’s I.S. studies the Pan-American Exposition and how it represented a microcosm of the United States at the turn of the twentieth century. It examines themes of modern business, the development of a standing foreign policy, and rapidly changing technology. Bonnie will also talk about one of the hardest steps of the IS process: cutting parts out.
Leann Do
“With Independence, Salt Still Tastes Sweet”: South Vietnamese Civilian Experience in the Vietnam War
Leann’s I.S. investigates how South Vietnamese civilians experienced the Vietnam War. It examines how civilians normalized their thoughts, expressed it in their behavior, and constructed an identity dedicated towards survival during wartime. Leann will also discuss the pros and cons of using memory in interviews as a primary source.
Don’t forget to attend fellow History Senior Joe Skonce *ahem* Quartermaster Jeremiah Reed’s Living History presentation later that evening, Thursday, March 1st at 7pm in Scheide Music Hall!
Hope you are able to join us and have a History-filled Thursday!
