The Center for Diversity and Global Engagement (CDGE) is hosting a series of lunches celebrating College of Wooster seniors taking an interdisciplinary approach to Independent Study. The I-Seminars are designed to bring faculty, staff, and students together to discuss seniors’ work in progress.
Three History students will be presenting their IS projects in February. On Thursday, February 2, Chris Culbertson (History & Spanish) will present his work “Mapuche Culture & Identity” as part of a session on “Culture & Identity.” Lauren Close (History & Art History) will present her research “Pere Lachaise and Post-Revolution Paris: An Analysis of the Role of Art in Dynamic Societies” during the “Art & Culture” session on Thursday, February 9. And on Thursday, February 23, Casey Green (International Relations with a History home department) will present “It’s Not About the Shoes: The Cultural Cause of the Kalenjin Ethnic Group’s Running Success.”
In addition to supporting your peers, this is an exciting opportunity to learn more about interdisciplinary work on campus.
The I-Seminars are from 11:00 to 12:50 in the Babcock Dining Hall. Each session is free and open to the campus community, but you need to register here.
For a full schedule of events and presentation abstracts, as well as the (delicious!) menu for each I-Seminar lunch, see the CDGE’s wiki.
