Experiences & Opportunities in Public History: A Presentation and Roundtable

Interested in a career in historical societies, museums, libraries, or archives? Would you like to know how professional historians work to preserve and share the past? Come join us on Thursday, January 20, 11am-noon, in the Kauke Tower, to hear Prof. Erik Loomis, Sarah Coffin ’10, and Jacob Dinkelaker ’11, discuss experiences and opportunities in public history, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Boston Red Sox, and Gettysburg National Military Park. This event made possible by the Lilly Project for the Exploration of Vocation, the Department of History, and the Cultural Events Committee.
National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Summer Internship– Information Session

Sarah Coffin ‘10, former intern in the program and now Archival Assistant with the Boston Red Sox, will present an information session on this internship on Friday, January 21, 11:30am-12:30pm, in Lowry 119. Learn about this opportunity to spend an unforgettable summer in Cooperstown, New York, at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The Frank and Peggy Steele Internship is a ten week long internship at the National Baseball Hall of Fame which involves hands-on learning experience in the home of baseball’s greatest players. Interns will have the opportunity to work in such areas as curatorship, education, libraries, archives, multimedia, information technology, marketing, and public relations.
