Wherever you are in your education, it’s time to think broadly about what you are doing. This week — International Education Week — is a great time to put yourself to the test. Perhaps you picked up information at the Off-Campus Study Fair. Hopefully you already have your tickets for the Chinese Acrobats (Wed. night) and the Indian Dinner (Saturday). Here is another event you won’t want to miss, one that might help put all the rest in perspective.
On Thursday night you have the chance to hear Dr. Mansour Javidan, an award winning educator and author, who will speak on the kinds of approaches that students will need to succeed in a global workplace. Amyaz Moledina puts it this way: “In most societies leaders are socialized to work with people who are like them. They develop a unicultural lens that helps them understand and interpret their surroundings. This formula has worked for many centuries, but it is an obstacle as youth start working for companies that employ people who are different and who have diverse cultural lenses.”
